Palu Mayor Rusdy Mastura said he rejected a call by the state apparatus and the administrative and bureaucratic reform minister banning civil servants from holding meetings in hotels
alu Mayor Rusdy Mastura said he rejected a call by the state apparatus and the administrative and bureaucratic reform minister banning civil servants from holding meetings in hotels.
'I will only comply with the ban if it's mandated by the law,' said Rusdy prior to departing for Jakarta on Wednesday.
Rusdy made the statement on Wednesday after receiving a number of hotel managers in Palu, Central Sulawesi, who complained about the drop in income following the ban from the minister.
According to Rusdy, the ban on civil servants holding meetings in hotels was not in accordance with the spirit of improving regional development.
'The ban is the same as killing the hotel industry and discouraging investments in the province,' said Rusdy.
Consequently, he immediately instructed all working units and agencies within the municipality not to heed the call and allowed them to hold meetings in hotels.
'Please do hold meetings in hotels. I'll be [held] responsible,' he pointed out. (***)
