he General Attorney'€™s Office (AGO) has said it is considering a '€œsecond opinion'€ regarding the planned execution of Rodrigo Gularte, a Brazilian citizen convicted of drug-trafficking charges, as he has been found to have mental-health problems

'€œA letter from the Nusa Kambangan Penitentiary has informed us that one of the 11 death-row convicts is suffering from mental disorders,'€ AGO spokesperson Tony Tribagus Spontana said as quoted by Antara in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He said Nusa Kambangan Penitentiary authorities had asked the AGO to carry out a medical examination outside the prison because of its limited medical facilities.

Responding to the request, Tony said, the AGO was considering a '€œsecond opinion'€ on Gularte. He said the Brazilian citizen'€™s case was one of the factors that had led the AGO to delay the second series of executions to be conducted under President Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo'€™s new administration.

The AGO has also announced it has decided to delay the execution of two Australian death-row inmates, Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan.

'€œThe delay is our response to requests submitted by the Australian government and the inmates'€™ families who have asked for more time to meet with them,'€ Tony said as quoted by Antara in Jakarta on Tuesday.

President Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo has refused to grant clemency to any of the 11 convicts.

Four other foreign nationals to be executed for drug-smuggling offenses are Martin Anderson, aka Belo, a Ghanaian national, Filipina Mary Jane Fiesta Veloso, Nigerian Raheem Agbaje Salami and French citizen Serge Areski Atlaoui.

The four remaining convicts are Indonesians. They are Harun bin Ajis, Iyen bin Azwar, and Sargawi alias Ali bin Sanusi '€“ who are all murder convicts '€“ and Zainal Abidin who was convicted of drug trafficking. (ebf)(++++)
