he Anti-Dumping Committee (KADI) has commenced a sunset review of hot rolled plate (HRP) imports from China, Singapore and Ukraine to establish whether dumping practices are still in place.
The steel products have been subject to anti-dumping duties since 2011, which will be soon removed once there is no new evidence of unfair trade practices.
KADI chief Ernawati said the investigation followed up the request by three domestic steel makers, namely PT Gunung Rajapaksi, PT Gunawan Dianjaya Steel and PT Jaya Pari Steel.
'We are carrying out the probe to see whether dumping still exists and whether domestic manufacturers suffer losses due to this practice,' she said in a statement on Monday.
The imposition of punitive duties has effectively pushed down HRP imports from the three nations by 22 percent to 256,179 tons in 2014 from 2012, according to statistics from the Trade Ministry.
However, they still controlled a 72 percent share of Indonesia's total HRP imports last year.
The sunset reviews look into irregular trade practices before the expiration of levies, which normally expire after five years, and may result in the imposition of new duties.
