JAKARTA: Nusantara Sejahtera Raya, the operator of Indonesia’s largest movie theater network, Cinema 21, plans to open 40 new cinemas, aiming to book 25 million ticket sales this year. Year-to-date, it has sold 12 million movie tickets.
Nusantara Sejahtera corporate secretary Catherine Keng said the company would develop more cinemas outside Java, including in Kalimantan and Sumatra. It aims to build more cinemas applying the XXI concept, which provides upscale facilities and design.
“In the future we will focus on opening new cinemas and reducing the number of cinema applying the 21 concept,” she said as reported by kontan.co.id in Jakarta on Wednesday, adding that the company has been refurnishing many of its 21 cinemas into XXI cinemas.
