Ahok receives well wishes from supporters on his 50th birthday

Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama received good wishes from supporters for his 50th birthday on Wednesday.
Dozens of Ahok’s supporters from Dukung Ahok Gubernur (DAG, Support Governor Ahok) gathered at City Hall to extend their well wishes to the governor.
The Belitung-born governor said he did not usually hold a special event to celebrate his birthday, as a “birthday means losing another year. Therefore, I need to work harder and faster to serve the public. Comparing my age to my father’s age when he died at 67, it means I have only 17 years remaining,” Ahok said.
Separately, his other supporter group Teman Ahok (Friends of Ahok), congratulated him through their Facebook fan page.
“Happy 50th birthday Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama. Wish you good health and strength to become a figure [of] audacity, transparency and professionalism,” it wrote. (dmr)
