Central Jakarta District Court judge asked Boon “Hani” Juwita, a friend of both the deceased and accused, about a possible same-sex relationship between Jessica Kumala Wongso and the late Wayan Mirna Salihin, during her testimony on Wednesday.

Hani told the judges that she did not know about such a relationship. “If you don't know about it, then let's stop any rumors about it," said the judge, referring to rumors that jealousy was the motive behind the alleged murder of Mirna after Mirna got married.

According to the rumors, Mirna and Jessica had a romantic relationship while they lived in Australia, but the rumor has never been confirmed.

During the trial, the judge also asked Hani about a possible relationship between Jessica and Arief Soemarko, Mirna’s husband. Hani also said she did not know.

Jessica is accused of premeditated murder by lacing with cyanide an iced coffee Mirna drank at Olivier café at Grand Indonesia shopping center in Central Jakarta on Jan 6, during a get-together with Jessica and Hani.

The next hearing is scheduled for July 30, in which workers from Olivier café are expected to give their testimonies. (bbn)
