onald Trump's name is being stripped off three New York City luxury apartment buildings after hundreds of tenants signed a petition saying they were embarrassed to live in a place associated with the Republican president-elect.

About 600 residents of the three rental towers in Trump Place signed the online petition.

The company that owns and manages the skyscrapers informed tenants Tuesday the huge gold letters spelling out "Trump Place" would be removed.

A spokesman for Chicago-based owner Equity Residential says the buildings will be known by their street addresses.

Several neighboring towers that also bear the Trump Place name but have different owners are sticking with the Trump brand.

Trump was asked on CBS's "60 Minutes" whether his campaign comments had hurt his brand and replied, "Who cares?"

A Trump spokeswoman hasn't returned a message seeking comment.
