ndonesian Navy's vice chief of staff Adm. Arie Henrycus Sembiring passed away at the Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital in Central Jakarta late on Sunday evening. 

Indonesian Military (TNI) spokesman Maj. Gen. Wuryanto confirmed Arie's passing. 

"On behalf of the TNI, we extend a heartfelt condolence on his departure," Wuryanto said as quoted by kompas.com on Monday. 

No details were immediately available on the cause of his death.

Born in Medan, North Sumatra, on Jan. 10, 1960, Arie belonged to the Navy's batch 1983. 

He was survived by his wife and three children. 

Arie was appointed as the Navy's vice chief of staff on Feb. 12 to replace Adm. Widodo.

Arie is scheduled to be buried at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in South Jakarta on Tuesday. (dmr)
