T

he Jakarta administration has granted 20,000 secondhand armature lamps, which can be used for street lighting, to the Bekasi administration.

Acting Jakarta Governor Sumarsono said Bekasi was the first administration that conveyed its interest in receiving the lamps. “I hope the lamps will be useful to support the Bekasi administration in providing facilities for its residents,” he said during the handover ceremony at City Hall on Wednesday.

The 20,000 lamps vary in strength, ranging from 70 watts to 400 W.

Jakarta Industry and Energy Agency head Yuli Hartono said the city had given the lamps away because the agency had just purchased 89,417 new LED lamps with a smart system that allows for controlling them through the internet.

“The grant is in accordance with an order from Governor Basuki ‘Ahok’ Tjahaja Purnama before he took leave to campaign for the election,” he said.
