he Tebo General Elections Commission (KPU) says it still lacks polling booths for the election in the regency in Jambi province on Feb. 15.

The commission is now in the process of procuring additional election materials.

Meanwhile, election commissions in two other regencies, Muarojambi and Sarolangun, which are also scheduled to hold elections on Feb. 15, have confirmed that they will use ballot drop boxes and voting booths from the Jambi gubernatorial election in 2015.

“There will be no procurement of ballot drop boxes and polling booths for Muarojambi and Sarolangun. But in Tebo, many voting booths have been either damaged or lost; hence, we need to procure new booths,” said KPU Jambi logistics division head Pahmi Sy on Thursday.

He said that in each polling station, there should be one polling booth and one ballot drop box, but for polling stations with a high number of voters, four polling booths and one ballot drop box were needed.

“On average, each polling station has two polling booths,” said Pahmi.

According to KPU Jambi, Muarojambi needs 873 ballot drop boxes and 2,520 polling booths. In Sarolangun, 586 ballot drop boxes and 1,172 polling booths are needed.

“In Tebo, there are only 600 polling booths while we need twice that number. So there will be a procurement of new polling booths,” said Pahmi. (ebf)
