ohamad Ridwan, a 57-year-old blind man from Cimahi, West Java, spent quite a short time to cast his ballot on Wednesday, thanks to ballot papers for people with visual impairments.

Accompanied by his wife, Khodijah, 46, Ridwan needed just one minute in the polling booth to punch his ballot and fold it, before dropping it into the ballot box.

“I had participated in events to introduce voting assistance for blind voters four times. Hence, I experienced no problems during voting, because I got a ballot paper with the names of candidate pairs written in Braille,” said Ridwan at Polling Station 39 in Citeureup, North Cimahi, on Wednesday.

To accommodate disabled voters participating in the Cimahi mayoral election, the General Elections Commission (KPU) provided voting equipment for blind voters at two polling stations, both located at the complex of the Cimahi State School for disabled children. (ebf)
