est Jakarta Health Agency data reveals that dengue hemorrhagic fever cases in the region dropped by 68 percent to 242 cases in the January to February period, from 752 cases in the same period last year.

Agency head Weningtyas recently said dengue fever outbreaks were directly connected to people’s concern about their environment.

“We will optimize healthcare services for residents through mosquito larvae monitoring volunteers [jumantik]. Community health center [Puskesmas] services will also be expanded to deal with dengue,” Weningtyas said as quoted by barat.jakarta.go.id.

The most cases were found in Kalideres subdistrict with 78 cases, followed by Cengkareng and Kebon Jeruk with 60 and 23 cases, respectively.

With the country experiencing more rain, the agency has disseminated information on how to clean inundated homes and to kill larvae. (wnd)
