our train crossings in Jakarta are going to be closed in the near future with security and public order as the primary considerations.
Transportation Ministry directorate of railways, Jakarta Police and the Jakarta Administration have agreed that four train crossings in Pejompongan in West Jakarta; Pasar Minggu in South Jakarta; TB Simatupang in South Jakarta and Pondok Kopi in Bekasi are going to be closed in May.
Railway Director General Prasetyo Boeditjahjono said Wednesday that the policy was made to increase safety and reduce congestion.
"The four are part of 19 train crossings that have been recommended by the Transportation Ministry to the Jakarta Administration to close,'" he said as quoted by wartakota.com. "There will be trials in April before full implementation," he added.
