mmigration authorities at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport detained almost 200 foreigners in the first three months of the year, an official has said.
“We detained them because they entered Indonesia illegally or were suspected of criminal activities,” said airport immigration office head Kaharudin Ali on Tuesday as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com.
One hundred and ninety-two foreigners were deported and another 10 had to undergo legal proceedings for using fake Indian passports.
The immigration office is also looking into the cases of another 10 foreigners from Morocco, Afghanistan and Palestine suspected to have arrived on fake passports.
Some of the deported foreigners, Kaharudin added, possessed all necessary documents but could not explain their purpose for visiting the country or did not have enough money to pay for their stay.
The immigration office recorded that most of the foreigners who breach immigration regulations came from China, Nepal, Australia and Bangladesh. (wnd)
