he National Monument’s (Monas) missing icon, the dancing fountain, will soon return after two weeks of repairs and renovations.
Located in the west area of Monas in Gambir, Central Jakarta, the Pesona Monas water fountain has been out of order for two years.
Monas area management unit head Sabdo Kurnianto said the soon-to-be revitalized fountain was at the top of the unit’s to-do list. “We have fixed 38 out of 40 pumps so far,” he said on Wednesday as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
The revitalization will include adding lights and music to enhance the beauty of the water fountain.
However, the management is yet to decide whether to operate the fountain daily or during holidays only, Sabdo said.
The plan to repair the dancing water fountain has been on the cards since 2015 and is reportedly using Rp 35 billion (US$2.6 million) from corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds. (dev)
