he Jakarta chapter of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) will hold a business forum in Jakarta next month to further promote the economic relationship between South Korea and Indonesia, particularly in the rapidly growing e-commerce sector.

About 300 businessmen from the two countries are expected to attend the one-day Indonesia-Korea Business Forum on April 4, KITA Jakarta Center chief representative for Indonesia Daniel Kweon said.

The forum will, among other things, discuss business opportunities in the rapidly growing new economy, especially related to e-commerce, he said, adding that the growing online business industry has created good opportunity for South Korea to strengthen its network with Indonesia.

“Many Indonesian use smartphones and do online business nowadays, and South Korea with more expertise in online business can help Indonesia’s e-commerce industry,” he said during a media briefing in Jakarta on Thursday.

“We hope this event helps the online retail business in Indonesia grow,” he added.

KITA is the largest business organization in South Korea with around 74,000 members, mostly small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The association has operated in Indonesia for two years under the KITA Jakarta Center. (ecn/hwa)
