resumptive Jakarta deputy governor Sandiaga Uno said he would launch a Kartu Jakarta Jomblo (Single Jakartans Card), which aims to help single residents find partners through “positive” activities. The card will reportedly be valid for six months.

The program will be integrated with his other key programs, including zero down payment housing loan and entrepreneurship OK OCE programs.

“The zero-rupiah down payment program will be implemented so that jomblo [singles] will be confident while courting their future partners and buying a house,” Sandiaga said as quoted by kompas.com on Tuesday.

The Single Jakartans program could also be conducted in the city’s child-friendly integrated public spaces (RPTRA), where residents could hold a mass ta’aruf, or an Islamic process of couples getting to know each other, Sandiaga said.

Sandiaga added that he would conduct youth-engaging activities to attract Jakarta singles, such as a discounted film viewing event locally known as nonton bareng or nobar. (cal)
