he Trade Ministry plans to require all cooking oil producers to allocate a certain percentage of their production for simple packaged cooking oil and cheap variants in a bid to stabilize staple prices.
“All cooking oil producers will have to allocate a certain percentage out of their total production for simple packaged and bulk oil variants,” Trade Minister Enggartiasto “Enggar” Lukita told reporters after a post-Ramadan gathering on Tuesday.
The simple and bulk oil will be sold for around Rp 11,000 per kilogram.
Starting April 10, the ministry requires retailers to sell simple packaged cooking oil for Rp 11,000 per kilogram.
Cooking oil prices remained stable at around Rp 11,400 per kilogram in the period between April and June, ministry data shows. (bbn)
