he Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) has started the tender process for developing the Pusri-Muntok gas transmission pipeline connecting South Sumatra and Bangka Belitung worth Rp 1.2 trillion (US$89.6 million).
BPH Migas head M. Fanshurullah Asa said that interested investors were required to submit their feasibility study and front-end engineering design plans of the project to the agency.
“A bidder can also bring some input into the process, though that does not necessarily mean they would win the tender,” Fanshurullah said in Jakarta.
The Pusri-Muntok facility will extend the Grissik-Pusri pipeline, which was developed by Pertamina Gas (Pertagas), a subsidiary of state-owned energy giant Pertamina.
The Grissik-Pusri pipeline will span 176 kilometers and will have the capacity to transmit 160 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas, which will be supplied by the local unit of American oil and gas giant ConocoPhillips.
Fanshurullah said that PT Sumsel Energi Gemilang, owned by the South Sumatra administration, had expressed interest in joining the tender process for the Pusri-Muntok pipeline.
“We want to expedite the development of this gas transmission network, so that we can boost the use of gas and reduce our dependency on fuel,” he said.
The government recently launched the 2016-2030 gas infrastructure development roadmap, which is estimated to require a total investment of $48.2 billion. (ika)
