73-year-old homeless woman named Elih was found critically injured and bloodied at a mass organization post on Jl. Kengkong Karya, Lengkong, Serut in South Tangerang, Banten.
She was allegedly murdered by people who mistook her for someone else on Sunday, South Tangerang Police criminal unit head Adj. Comr. Ahmad Alexander said on Monday.
“The victim was covered in blood. There were severe wounds on her right thigh and abdomen,” Ahmad said in a press statement.
He said the victim was rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment but had lost too much blood and did not survive.
The police have examined the scene and questioned many witnesses, but they have yet to identify the perpetrators, Ahmad said.
“She was allegedly a victim of a misdirected attack,” he said as quoted by kompas.com. (fac)
