Jailed Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama has helped a man propose to his girlfriend.
The marriage proposal came in the form of a message Ahok wrote in a book titled Ahok di Mata Mereka (Ahok in their Eyes), which was to be a gift from Andreas to his girlfriend, Mentari.
“To Mentari, please accept Andreas’s proposal. Regards, BTP,” Ahok wrote in the book, as seen on his official Instagram account, which is managed by his team.
Fifty-one authors collaborated to create Ahok di Mata Mereka, which was launched on July 19 at Pullman Hotel in Central Jakarta as a belated birthday present for Ahok, whose birthday falls on June 29.
Buyers of the Rp 750,000 (US$56.17) book can pass the book on to the former governor to sign through his team.
Imadya, a member of his staff, said that every day, Ahok could write between 50 and 100 messages in these books, starting from noon and sometimes continuing until midnight.
Some buyers ask him for a unique message, which Imadya said provided Ahok with entertainment as he serves his two-year prison sentence at the Mobile Brigade Command in Depok, West Jakarta. (cal)
