As the rainy season starts in earnest, Jakarta has seen flooding in several areas.
On Wednesday, about 11 areas were flooded after about 30 centimeters of rain fell in the early hours of the morning.
The heavy downpour also caused major congestion on Jl. Yos Sudarso in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta. Vehicles were seen moving at only 10 kilometers per hour.
Meanwhile, Jl. Patra Ujung in Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta, was flooded when the Sekretaris River bursts its banks making the road impassable to most vehicles.
West Jakarta’s Water Source sub-agency deployed five mobile pumps with capacity of 150 liters per second to siphon water from the road. (yon)
