Teacher fired after 'toddler abuse' video released via WhatsApp

teacher at the Kidea Podomoro Preschool and Kindergarten in Tanjung Duren, West Jakarta, has been fired after footage showing her mistreating a student was spread via chat application WhatsApp, kompas.com reported on Friday.
In the 38-second video, the teacher was seen dragging a toddler down to the floor and forcing the child to sit cross-legged in front of her. The child was crying and exhibiting signs of fear. The footage showed the teacher displaying no signs of compassion.
Another teacher who appears in the same room in the video appeared to ignore the incident, seeming to be engrossed in her own duties.
A separate teacher, who declined to be identified, confirmed that the incident happened at the school where she worked.
“The video footage is real, and our headmaster is investigating the case,” she said as quoted by kompas.com. She added that the teacher behaving abusively in the footage was fired on Thursday. (vny)
