chools in Tangerang have been urged to find a way to fund their activities as the Banten provincial administration has yet to disburse operational funds in the last two months.

Tangerang Education Agency head Abduh Surahman said on Tuesday that school operational aids (BOS) for state schools should have been disbursed in July and August. Hence, many elementary and junior high schools have to find a way to cover the deficit, with one option of borrowing money.

Abduh, however, did not provide further details on the borrowing scheme.

“I do not know what kind of obstacles the Banten administration is facing that is hampering the disbursement of the funds. We have asked them and they have promised us [the funds], but could not give us certainty,” Abduh said, as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com.

He claimed the Tangerang administration had completed the necessary documents related to the matter.

Meanwhile, SMPN 13 state junior high school headmaster Mulyono Sobar said his school was desperate for the funds to ensure the smooth running of the school's activities.

“We have to borrow money. We need to pay our teachers salaries and for other necessities,” Mulyono said. (wnd)
