45,000 motorists ticketed during Zebra traffic operation

he Jakarta Police traffic directorate has ticketed 44,574 motorists across the capital in the first five days of the annual Zebra Operation, a significant jump from 30,210 in the same period last year.
Traffic unit chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Budiyanto said 29,832 of the violators were motorcycle drivers.
“The majority of the violations were driving against traffic flow,” he said, citing that 5,837 motorcycle drivers were ticketed for that reason.
Tickets were issued to 11,666 private cars , while 527 buses and 2,549 pick-up trucks drivers were also ticketed.
Central Jakarta Police traffic unit head Adj. Sr. Comr. Ganet Sukoco said on Monday that his unit could ticket 50 drivers in 30 minutes during the operation in the morning.
The operation is running from Nov. 1 to Nov. 14. (fac)
