omestic carrier Xpress Air is set to open a new direct flight route serving flights between Jambi, Sumatra and Bandung, West Java this month as part of an effort to boost tourism in the Sumatran province.
“There will be four flights a week for this route,” said Xpress Air Jambi supervisor Yoarno Arbi in Jambi on Tuesday.
Scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, the Makassar-based carrier will fly a 123-seat Boeing 737-500 for this new route.
“We cannot yet give you the exact date for the commencement of operations of this new route,” Yoarno said.
“We are still waiting for the necessary permits from related ministries,” he went on.
Yoarno assured that the flight would operate once the permits were issued.
It was expected the new route could help support the government’s efforts to boost tourism in Jambi, he added. (nmn/ebf)
