tate-owned energy company Pertamina has won a lucrative five-year contract for the right to sell and distribute the bulk of fuel across the country.
Pertamina will be entrusted with distributing 14.3 million kiloliters of all types of gasoline, including kerosene, or almost 92 percent of the 15.6 million kl estimated needs.
Meanwhile, publicly-listed private company PT AKR Corporindo saw its contract to distribute gasoline extended, with an allocation of 250,000 kl for subsidizied fuel for the year.
Some 1 million kl will be kept for emergency.
BPH Migas head M. Fanshurullah Asa told reporters on Monday that the longer contract would allow the distributors to plan their investment needs.
Pertamina and AKR Corporindo were selected out of 25 companies that bid on the contracts.
“We welcome private companies and will assess their capability to distribute fuel,” Fanshurullah said. (sha/bbn)
