he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is set to question two officials of national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia as part of its investigation into a graft case involving the company’s former president director Emirsyah Satar.
The two officials are the company’s vice president for corporate planning, Setijo Awibowo, and director of strategy, business development and risk management Achirina.
“They will be questioned in relation to suspect ESA,” KPK spokesperson Febri Diansyah said, as quoted by kompas.com in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Emirsyah has been implicated in a bribery case related to the procurement of Rolls-Royce machines at Garuda Indonesia.

As previously reported, Emirsyah was suspected to have received bribes in the form of cash transfers and assets estimated to be worth more than US$4 million, equal to Rp 52 billion, from UK-based firm Rolls-Royce.
Besides Emir, the KPK has also named businessman Soetikno Soedarjo a suspect. Soetikno is the beneficial owner of Connaught International Pte Ltd as is suspected to have played a role as an intermediary in the bribery.
The KPK suspected the bribery was related to the procurement of Rolls-Royce machines for Airbus aircraft belonging to Garuda Indonesia during the 2005-2014 period. It was suspected that the money and assets were given by Rolls-Royce to Emir in the hope the British company could become the supplier of aircraft machines for the national flag carrier. (ebf)
