he Jakarta administration will postpone the groundbreaking ceremony for its zero down-payment housing program in Rorotan, North Jakarta, which was initially set to take place on Wednesday.
Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno said officials were still deliberating the prices and payment scheme.
“I don’t want to rush [the start] if we’ve yet to find the best solution and synchronize all parties in the program,” Sandiaga said, noting that the decision to delay the program had been discussed with Governor Anies Baswedan.
One hundred houses will reportedly be constructed in the area. The city administration has appointed developer PT Nusa Kirana, which also owns the land, to execute the project.
“One thing’s for sure is that the housing is only for those with monthly earnings of between Rp 3.7 million (US$270) and Rp 7 million,” Sandiaga added as quoted by kompas.com.
The city administration previously held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Klapa Village apartments in Pondok Kelapa, East Jakarta under the scheme on Jan. 18. The construction of Klapa Village is being carried out by city-owned developer Pembangunan Sarana Jaya. (vla)
