A

mobile phone seller allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the fifth floor of the Taman Palem Mall, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, on Wednesday.

Cengkareng Police chief Comr. Khoiri said the man allegedly committed suicide because of long-term depression. He was found dead on the ground floor of the mall.

“According to his sibling, the man suffered from depression after being involved in a traffic accident in Teluk Gong, North Jakarta, 10 years ago,” Khoiri said on Wednesday, as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com.

Khoiri said the man did not get proper medical treatment after the accident because of his family’s financial constraints, which prompted his depression.

His body has been taken to the National Police Hospital in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, to be autopsied. (cal)
