man reportedly connected to military intelligence was found dead in a hotel room in Kampung Bali, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, on Thursday.
Tanah Abang Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Lukman Cahyono, said that, according to staff accounts, the 74-year-old had not left his hotel room for several days.
Hotel employee Novalian told the police that he and other staffers had discovered the body after he wanted to check on the room amid due payments.
After finding the door locked and sensing a sharp odor, he called other hotel staffers to open the door and found the man dead on the bed.
Lukman said the police suspected the man had died of illness, because a lot of medication had been found in his room.
A membership card for Military Command 0501/JP based in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, was found in the man’s wallet.
However, 0501/JP Military Command commander Col. Inf. Edwin Adrian Sumantha said the man was not a member of the military, but rather a civilian who had worked with the military as a member of the intelligence unit, kompas.com reported. (ami)
