T

he police have arrested 12 young men that allegedly wanted to start a brawl on Wednesday night in Kampung Baru, North Kembangan, West Jakarta.

Kembangan Police chief Comr. Supriadi said the men had brought sharp weapons and small bags of gasoline with them.

“There's a possibility that they were going to splash their opponents [with gasoline],” Supriadi said on Thursday as reported by kompas.com.

He said the 12 men were residents of Pedongkelan Kapuk, Cengkareng, in West Jakarta.

Supriadi said one of the suspects came to the site to resolve a dispute and called his friends, who came with machetes and plastic bags filled with gasoline.

The arrival of the men attracted the attention of local residents, who then called the police.

He said the police had detained the men at the Kembangan Police headquarters.

“We have detained the suspects and confiscated the evidence. We are still investigating the motive of their actions,” he said. (ami)
