he Jakarta Police have identified a group of organized muggers, thieves and robbers from Teluk Gong in North Jakarta, along with their leader.
“We have already identified the boss of their mugging group,” said police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono.
The police will dispatch officers on an operation targeting thieves and robbers ahead of the 18th Asian Games.
Currently, Argo said, the police were still hunting for the head of the network of robbers, calling themselves the Tenda Oranye (orange tent) gang of Teluk Gong.
According to Argo, operations to crack down on mugging, robbery and theft in Jakarta would be conducted to provide security for the visitors and participants of the Asian Games, which will take place in August.
“The chief has ordered every officer to conduct an operation to fight against robbers and thieves because of the coming 2018 Asian Games event,” Argo said as quoted by tempo.co. (acr)
