he State Civilian Bureaucracy Commission (KASN) has reported Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to President Joko “Jokowi” for allegedly not following the commission’s recommendations regarding the demotion of several high-ranking city officials.
“The ball is in the President’s court,” KASN commissioner I Made Suwandi said on Wednesday as reported by tempo.co.
The commission made the report after the city administration reportedly ignored the recommendation to reinstate eight out of 16 civil servants, including five mayors that Anies had fired. The commission believed the administration had violated procedures and regulations in the demotion process.
Made said the city administration had followed some of the recommendations, including declaring eight officials as retired and transferring them to different positions of the same level. Others quit their jobs with the administration to run in next year’s legislative elections.
“But eight people have yet to be sorted out,” he said.
The officials claim to have not received any verbal or written warning before getting dismissed.
The report submitted to the President includes the chronology of the demotions and dismissal documents signed by the governor.
When asked about the report, Anies said he had not followed all the recommendations, but would do so.
“We are completing the process. Hopefully we will follow [the recommendations] soon,” he said adding that he was in communication with the commission regarding the matter. (vla)
