s part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the long-standing ties between Indonesia and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), OECD secretary-general Angel Gurría is scheduled to visit Bali on Oct. 10 to 13.
According to a statement The Jakarta Post received on Tuesday, Gurría will present the OECD's latest economic survey of Indonesia and a first-ever review of the country's small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurship policies. During his visit, Gurría is also scheduled to present the third OECD-Indonesia Joint Work Program, which will be implemented over three years from 2019 to 2021.
The statement adds that the Indonesia survey assesses the country’s current economic expansion and discusses policies for sustaining strong social and economic outcomes in the future.
“Thematic chapters in the survey consider ways of boosting government revenues to meet financing needs in a growth and equity-friendly manner, as well as how tourism can contribute to sustainable regional development,” it said.
Regarding the joint program, the statement said, “The program continues to work in high priority areas and includes new emerging issues identified by the Indonesian government."
Meanwhile, the SMEs and entrepreneurship policy review examined SME performance and entrepreneurship in the country, business environment and framework conditions, strategic policy context, national programs and the coherence between national and provincial policies.
“The review provides tailored recommendations for SME and entrepreneurship development in Indonesia,” the statement said. (bbn)
