The police found a revolver in the master bedroom.
family of four and their two pet dogs were found dead with gunshot wounds to their heads on Wednesday inside their home in Kalidoni, Palembang, South Sumatra.
The victims were identified as FX Ong, 45 and his wife Margareth Yentin, 43, as well as their children Rafael Fransiskus, 18, and Kathlyn Fransiskus, 11.
The South Sumatra Police have dismissed the possibility of a robbery as they had found no signs of forced entry or missing valuables.
According to South Sumatra Police chief detective Sr. Comr. Budi Suryanto, a revolver was found in the master bedroom.
“We are still questioning witnesses,” he said on Wednesday.
A preliminary investigation suggests that Ong fatally shot his family then turned the gun on himself because his wife had allegedly asked for a divorce.
He reportedly left behind a note that supports the theory.
A family relative, Effendi, 50, said the extended family was shocked to learn about the deaths, which took place only hours after his last chat with Ong via a messaging service.
“There was nothing suspicious [from the chat],” he said at the Bhayangkara Police Hospital in Palembang, noting that the family was known as religious.
Effendi added that Ong’s business also seemed to be on track. (swd)
