The driver of the car allegedly did not pay attention to the road, causing the crash to happen.
car struck an ojek (motorcycle taxi) while driving on Jl. Raya Bhayangkara in Alam Sutera, South Tangerang, killing the driver, police have said.
South Tangerang Traffic Police chief Adj. Comr. Lalu Hedwin said the driver of the car was not paying attention to the road and struck the motorcycle.
"Then we scrutinized on how focused he was. The reports said that he was looking at the shophouses on the side of the road. He was not concentrating on what was in front of him when he was driving," said Lalu as quoted by kompas.com on Friday.
Lalu added that his team has ordered the man to do a urine test in case of drug abuse, which ended up being negative. The police did not find any indications of drunk driving.
The case is still under investigation and the police are seeking more witnesses of the accident. The driver of the car is currently detained for further interrogation.
Police officers have also inspected the crime scene to find out any other information, including the speed of the car and any other factors that could have caused the accident. (mai)
