ell-known Indonesian wushu athlete Olivia Zalianti will compete at the first Bali Open Kungfu International Championship held at Manggapura Hall, Westin Resort in Nusa Dua, Bali from Dec.17 to 22.
She will compete in the palm-leaf fan and blade categories.
“I hope I can deliver my best,” she said as quoted by Antara news service on Monday.
Besides competing in those categories, Olivia will also take part in a colossal show involving a number of other wushu athletes such as former national athlete Ahmad Rifai, at Monday’s opening.
“I’ll be playing the role of the wind general and will be equipped with a palm-leaf fan,” Olivia, who has been training wushu for nine years, added.
Bambang Suprianto of Garuda Dewa Wushu Indonesia said the tournament was a pivotal instrument to promote the martial art to the Indonesian people. He said that many potential talents were expected to be spotted at the tournament.
