hase one of Jakarta’s first light rail transit (LRT) system from Kelapa Gading to the Velodrome is to begin commercial operations in April this year.
PT LRT Jakarta project director Iwan Takwin said the construction of all six stations on the first phase route was 97 percent complete.
The six stations are Pagangsaan Dua, located at the LRT depot in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, Kelapa Gading Mall, South Boulevard, Pulomas, Equestrian and the Velodrome in Pulo Gadung, East Jakarta.
“There is no major construction left, only the finishing touches and lift testing at six LRT stations,” Iwan said on Wednesday as reported by beritajakarta.id.
He said the company was also preparing for the LRT’s commercial operation in April, such as by conducting the final tests of the LRT system signals and preparing additional facilities in stations.
“We will carry out the trial run by the end of February. We aim to start commercially operating in April,” Iwan said.
