The defending champion of the One Strawweight World Championship, Joshua “The Passion” Pacio of Baguio City, the Philippines, and his contender, Yosuke “Tobizaru” Saruta of Japan, met in an open training on Wednesday at the Syena martial arts center in Jakarta.
They showed off their mixed martial arts skills before fans and media just a few days before the ONE: Eternal Glory bouts, to be held at Istora Senayan on Saturday.
“I have been training hard all the way to prove that I still deserve to maintain the title. I am in my ultimate condition and ready to rumble,” he said as quoted by a statement sent to The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.
Commenting on this, Yosuke said he believed he has what it takes to steal the title from Joshua.
“I fully believe that Joshua is a great fighter. However, I am going in with the proper strategy to outpower him and take the title away from him,” he said.
Along with Joshua and Yosuke, fellow fighters Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol, Puja Tomar, Stefer Rahardian, Robin Catalan, Anthony Engelen and Kwon Won II trained at the event.
