Island focus: Idham to become police’s top detective

he National Police have appointed Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Idham Azis as their chief of detectives.

Idham’s current position will be filled by Insp. Gen. Gatot Eddy Pramono, who previously served as assistant to the National Police for planning and budgetary affairs, according to an official statement from the National Police on Tuesday.

The police will also replace their Security Intelligence Agency’s head, Com. Gen. Lutfi Lubihanto, who will be retiring, with Comr. Gen. Unggung Cahyono. Unggung previously led the police’s education and training center. Comr. Gen. Arief Sulistyanto replaces Unggung to head the center.

In addition to those five senior generals, the police also inducted another 43 officials into various new positions, including three chiefs as well as four deputy chiefs.

Insp. Gen. Hamidin, an official with the Densus 88 antiterror squad, will become South Sulawesi police chief, while Brig. Gen. Supratman fills the Bengkulu chief position. North Maluku’s chief position will be filled by Brig. Gen. Suroto. Brig. Gen. Akhmad Wiyagus, Sr. Comr. Teguh Sarwono, Sr. Comr. Lukas Akbar Abriari and Sr. Comr. Tulus Ikhlas Pamoji, fill the deputy chief positions in West Java, Maluku, North Maluku, North Sulawesi, respectively.
