espite having revoked the permits for 13 reclamation islets and sealing hundreds of buildings on existing artificial islets, a food court is reportedly in operation on one of them: Pantai Maju, previously islet D, in Jakarta Bay. However, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has declined to comment about the report.
“Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow,” he told reporters in Jakarta on Tuesday evening, while smiling and shaking his head.
The food court comprises 25 food stalls and has reportedly been open since the end of December, drawing big crowds in the evenings.
Besides the food court, kompas.com also reported that development activities were seen in the area with sounds of machinery heard in the distance. Marco Kusumawijaya, head of the management division of the Governor’s Team for Development Acceleration, confirmed through his Twitter account, @mkusumawijaya, on Tuesday morning that a food court was operating.
“The report on development activities on Pantai Maju by the Tirto media is true. [We are] checking on it. There will be an explanation soon,” he tweeted.
