The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Indonesia recently organized a cultural event called Czech Day at the Fajar Hidayah Islamic boarding school in Bogor, West Java to introduce the Czech Republic’s culture and traditions to its students and encourage interactions between people from the two countries.
The event took place on Jan. 26 and was attended by Czech Republic Ambassador to Indonesia Ivan Hotek and the ambassador’s spouse, Jitka Hotkova, along with the school’s staff members, teachers and students. Indonesian students who studied in the Czech Republic, along with representatives of the Bogor Education Agency, were also present.
During the event, several staff members of the Embassy of the Czech Republic performed some of the country’s traditional songs, before encouraging discussions and interactions between students and representatives from the embassy and the Czech alumni in Indonesia. Then the Indonesian students also took turns singing several Indonesian songs.
“In this Islamic boarding school, I feel that the atmosphere of solidarity and tolerance are being practiced genuinely and beautifully,” Hotek said during his speech at the school.
The head of the Bogor Education Agency, Luthfi Syam, meanwhile, said that cultural exchange programs worked well to expand the horizons of both students and teachers, while helping schools form international networks.
