resenter Augie Fantinus has regained access to his YouTube channel, which was confiscated by the Jakarta Police in relation to an investigation into alleged defamation.
In October last year, Augie was detained by the police after he posted a video on his Instagram account of a police officer apparently offering him a ticket to enter a basketball match at the 2018 Asian Para Games in Jakarta.
“My YouTube channel One on One was reactivated two weeks ago,” Augie told kompas.com on the sidelines of his defamation trial at the Central Jakarta District Court on Thursday.
Augie, however, cannot create new content as he is still in police custody.
“I only uploaded videos that I shot last September. The videos feature Luna Maya and some of my friends in Purworejo and Salatiga [of Central Java],” the presenter said.
Augie faces a maximum of six years’ imprisonment if found guilty of violating Article 27 point 3 and Article 28 point 2 of the Electronic Information and Transactions Law.
A Jakarta-based rights group, the Institute of Criminal Justice Reform, criticized Augie’s detainment, calling it an exaggerated move by the police.
