span>The Authorities will temporarily close Jl. Pancoran in Glodok, Tamansari, West Jakarta, on Feb. 19 and 20 for Cap Go Meh celebrations for the Chinatown Festival in the capital’s famous Chinatown area.
Cap Go Meh marks the 15th and final day of the traditional two-week celebration of Chinese New Year.
“We will [partly] close the street because the north side of Jl. Pancoran will be used for the Chinatown Festival,” West Jakarta Transportation Agency head Leo Amstrong said on Sunday, according to wartakota.tribunnews.com.
“To deal with traffic jams because of the closure, we will divert traffic to other streets,” he added.
Leo said that during the closure, traffic from Jl. Toko Tiga to Jl. Pancoran would be diverted to Jl. Pintu Kecil and Jl. Asemka. Traffic from Jl. Pancoran to Jl. Toko Tiga Seberang and Jl. Pintu Kecil will not be rerouted.
The agency set up banners in several spots to inform residents about the street closure.
He said the agency had also prepared parking spaces for visitors that wanted to go to the festival.
“During the Chinatown Festival, we will prepare parking spaces in three spots, on Jl. Pintu Besar Selatan, at the Pancoran Chinatown Point building and at Glodok Market,” he said.
