Greater Jakarta: Jak24 passengers to get free LRT rides

span>Passengers of Jak24, a Jak Lingko angkot (public minivan) service, will be able to temporarily enjoy free rides on the light rapid transit (LRT), which is set to begin commercial operations at the end of this month.
The Jak24 route was opened last Thursday and is served by five angkot from operator Budi Luhur. The route operates every day from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., running from Pulogadung, East Jakarta, to Pasar Senen, Central Jakarta, via Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta. The route is also integrated with Transjakarta routes.
“Jak24 passengers will not be charged for using the LRT for a short period of time,” Transjakarta president director Agung Wicaksono said on Monday, kompas.com reported.
He, however, did not specify how long the rides would be available for.
He said the plan was part of Jak Lingko’s integration with the Jakarta LRT. “So people will be motivated to use Jak Lingko because they will also get to try a new mode of transportation in the LRT,” Agung said.
