span>The Jakarta Police have named Papua administration regional secretary Hery Dosinaen a suspect in a case of alleged assault against two Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators who were assigned to tail several Papuan officials at a Jakarta hotel early this month.

“Based on the result of a case expose against the regional secretary, we have raised the status of Hery Dosinaen to suspect in the case,” Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said on Monday.

Investigators named Hery a suspect, he added, based on witness and expert testimonies as well as other evidence. Argo, however, refused to answer when asked whether Hery was involved in the alleged assault.

Hery faces charges under Article 351 of the Criminal Code on assault, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison should he be found guilty.

He was named a suspect after investigators questioned Hery as a witness in the case on Monday. Previously, he failed to answer the first summons on Thursday and requested that the questioning be rescheduled, as he needed to accompany Papua Governor Lukas Enembe to an event.

On the night of Feb. 2, officials from the Papua provincial administration, including Lukas, held a meeting with Papua Legislative Council members in the Borobudur Hotel in Jakarta to discuss the province’s draft 2019 budget.

At that time, an administration staff member noticed that one of the two graft busters positioned in the hotel was taking photos of the officials. The Papua officials subsequently confined the KPK employees.
