Greater Jakarta: Two killed in North Jakarta fire

Two people died in a fire that damaged three houses behind Teluk Gong Market in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, on Friday morning.

“The deceased victims have been identified as Jacob, 52, and Lina, 35,” North Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency head Satriadi said as quoted by tempo.co.

Satriadi said the fire was reportedly caused by a short circuit. The fire was reported at 5:05 a.m. The agency deployed 10 fire trucks to put out the fire.

“We are in the process of cooling [the remains of the house] down,” he said.

According to Satriadi, nine people lived in the house. Material losses have been estimated at Rp 1 billion (US$71,074).
