span>ICT services company Synnex Metrodata Indonesia (Synnex) has opened a new logistics center in the MM2100 industrial estate in Cibitung, West Java, to help reduce logistics costs.
The four-story building, located on a 22,000-square meter area, cost Rp 120 billion (US$8.49 million) and has been in operation since December 2018.
“Before we built this main warehouse, we rented warehouses from third parties. Due to increasing transaction volume, we thought that it would be more cost effective to build our own warehouse,” said president director Agus Honggo Widodo.
The logistics center was built to anticipate the company’s growing business in the next five years.
In the long term, Synnex believes the logistics center can help reduce logistic costs in Greater Jakarta by about 35 percent.
Synnex is a joint venture company between publicly listed ICT company Metrodata Electronics and Taiwan-based computer consumer and communication company Synnex Technology International Corp.
Metrodata Electronics hold 50 percent of Synnex’s shares.
As an ICT distribution company that has more than 40 years of experience in information technology, it has networks in 12 big cities, which also serve other 150 cities across Indonesia.
