Veteran singer Iwan Fals will hold a concert to celebrate Indonesia’s diversity, love and peace.
The concert, titled “Aku Cinta” (I Love), will be staged on March 30 at Ecopark Ancol in North Jakarta, with tickets starting at Rp 150,000 (US$10.51).
“This concert will not be just about ‘Bento’ and ‘Bongkar’,” Iwan said, as quoted by tempo.co, referring to two of his greatest hits composed in criticism of the New Order regime.
The two songs are widely popular to this day, with Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi making “Bento” his go-to song when asked to sing and play his guitar.
Iwan’s songs are known to champion equality and critical thought. More recently, some of his popular songs also revolve around love.
“This is the journey of my career since 1975,” Iwan said.
For the concert, he will sing a total of 25 songs from 39 of his albums. Balinese band Superman is Dead is scheduled to perform alongside him at the concert.
